I'm Erika Richards, a Philadelphia-based artist and illustrator whose work celebrates the beauty, strength, and complexity of Black women through intentional brushstrokes and powerful narratives. Since launching Erika L. Illustrations LLC in 2019, I've been guided by the philosophy that "if the work is brilliant, everything else will fall into place"—creating art that doesn't just decorate walls but fills spaces where our stories have been missing.
Working alongside my mother and CFO Sherida Douglass, we're building more than a business; we're crafting a legacy that includes our newest venture, Queen Louise Art Gallery, where we're transforming the relationship between galleries and artists.
Every piece I create is an invitation to see beauty where it's often overlooked, to celebrate stories that matter, and to join a conversation that honors the everyday magic in Black women's lives. I'm honored you're here, and I hope my work speaks to you as powerfully as these stories speak to me.
