Started With Yahoo!

Thank the Geniuses creators of yahoo for giving us the first open directory. Thanks to David Filo and Jerry Yang of Standford University for creating and starting the first search engine directory, their main goal was to create a website that hosted links to their favorite websites and catalogued all the sites in which they visited on a daily bases.

Yahoo An Acronym For What?

Sadly Yahoo was not the original name actually Yahoo used to be “Jerry and David’s Guide to the World Wide Web”, but after a good search through an dictionary the name quickly change after a play on words to “Yahoo” which stands for “Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle”.

Word of Mouth

What started out as a directory of sites that Jerry Yang and David Filo use to catalogue their favorites sites quickly gain popularity and gain a following of hundreds of people in record time, in 1994 yahoo hit a new high when it was reported over 1,000,000 hits. In fact Yahoo was so popular that Sequoia Capital invested 2,000,000 million by 1996. Yahoo has become one of the largest international search directories and is reported to have over 300,000,000 users.

Keyword Meta Tags

Keywords and phrase is very important when it comes to making your site more SEO friendly.

Keywords are text that can be found in your site body copy. These keywords are searched by robots and used to read the index of your page. Google uses web robots to search the content of your index page.
